Use our simple 7-step guide to keep your toilet bowl free of rings and hard water stains.
1. Flush Your Toilet Frequently
- You can prevent pink bacteria stains from setting in the bowl by flushing your toilets regularly.
- It’s suggested to even flush the toilets you hardly use regularly.
- If there is a toilet you never use, consider turning its water off entirely.
2. Let The Toilet Bowl Cleaner Sit
- Letting the cleaner sit in the bowl for a little while can prevent stain-causing bacteria from ultimately expanding.
- Apply the cleaner around the entire bowl, from under the rim on down.
- Let your cleaner sit until the next time you need to use the toilet.
- Swish the water gently in the bowl around all sides while using the toilet brush.
- Flush the toilet when completed.
3. Weekly Cleanings
- Weekly toilet cleanings can stop stain build-up.
- Use the cleaner and a brush to scrub your entire bowl area.
- Then wipe down the surfaces of the toilet with a disposable disinfectant wipe.
4. Clean The Tank
- Toilet tanks that are left uncleaned can grow mold, mildew, and rust.
- It’s suggested to clean the tank at least twice each year.
- To do so, turn the water valve off and flush the tank.
- Fill the tank back up with vinegar all the way up to the overflow valve.
- Let your vinegar sit for about 12 hours.
- Scrub away any remaining grime with a toilet brush.
5. Always Use Non-Corrosive Tank Tablets
- Tank tablets can be used to fill the bowl with cleaner following each and every flush.
- However, there are many tablet types that may damage the interior parts and valve as time goes on.
- Make sure to choose tablets that are labeled as “chemical-free” or “natural” in order to prevent any further damage.
6. Scrub Bowl With Vinegar Monthly
- Scrub your toilet bowl with vinegar every month to prevent any deposits or rings from suddenly appearing.
- Try to pour about 3 cups of vinegar into the bowl, covering all sides.
- Let the vinegar sit for a bit, then scrub the bowl thoroughly.
- Flush once the task has been completed.
7. Clean Toilet Bowl With Teflon
- Toilet cleaners that feature Teflon can protect the surface from a variety of stains.
- Apply some of the cleaner all over the bowl’s interior then scrub.
- Performing this task regularly can keep the bowl coated and free from any stains.
